Having read Trek novels for the last nearly 30 years, which series, individual book, or trilogy made you eager for more novels

Easily the Destiny Trilogy. It changed a lot. It felt like the Trek universe was finally progressing at a more suitable rapid pace ... at least for me.

A close second is the Articles of the Federation. It made me want to read more novels not centered around Star Fleet. I love novels like these because it expands on what was already created. I would love to learn more about the other federation members

There are three novels that I would put head and shoulders above anything else I've read when it comes to Star Trek.

Mission Gamma: Twilight by David R. George III
Destiny: Mere Mortals by David Mack
    Fire Ship by Diane Carey

Are three differ from the Star Trek norm, but manage to tell exciting stories and all have some of the most incredible worldbuilding you'll find in any novel, Star Trek or not.

As fantastic as the Destiny trilogy was, I've gone to the DS9 Millenium trilogy again and again.

The first three DS9 relaunch novels (Avatar, parts 1 and 2, plus te Section 31 novel) were a great start to the series.

And the TNG/DS9 books set during the Dominion War are fantastic.

I'd say my favorite series are Vanguard and the Mirror Universe.

Keep in mind that I've only just finished reading through the DS9 relaunch and haven't quite started anything beyond. I'm sure there'll be other "favorites" coming soon and I can't wait to make it to Destiny after all I've heard over the past year or so.

    • the Crucible trilogy
    • all of Vanguard
    • the Eugenics Wars series
    • Peter David's early novels Strike Zone, A Rock and a Hard Place, Imzadi and Q-Squared
    • Serpents Among the Ruins and The Art of the Impossible from The Lost Era
If this list seems somewhat lacking, bear in mind that I have a lot of catching up to do. I'm only now getting into the various relaunches. (Too bad I started with the Enterprise relaunch, which I didn't find captivating at all.)

My favorite piece of treklit is Kirsten Beyer's Voyager: Full Circle. I'd also say that the Voyager relaunch is my favorite series as Pocket no longer seems to publish the IKS Gorkon books :klingon:

As a series, either DS9 relauch or Vanguard.

Individual novels.... A lot of people seem to mention older novels which I never read or haven't read, but I really loved Greater Then The Sum and Rough Beasts Of Empire.

Currently, the Beyer-driven Voyager Relaunch is the best thing going, IMO. I would place Vanguard a close second.

    Historically:

    TOS
The Abode of Life (love the aliens!)
The Wounded Sky (far superior as a novel than as the TNG episode WNOHGB)
My Enemy, My Ally (this is one of my annual reads)
Killing Time (An odd choice, but a long-time favorite)
Strangers from the Sky (Far superior first contact to that seen in FC)
The Lost Years (Well, just awesome!)
Ex Machina (the best story post-TMP that I have ever read)
Burning Dreams (I love Pike, and this is the definintive Pike book)
Provenance of Shadows (perhaps the best Trek novel ever)

    TNG
Dark Mirror - (Great fun, too bad this wasn't the MU we saw)
    A Time to Kill -
    A Time to Heal -
A Time for War, a Time for Peace - (These three are perhaps my favorite TNG books of all time)
    Q&A - (My favorite Q story ever.)
Destiny Trilogy (For obvious reasons - a real shaker in TrekLit, one which gives a lot of great story possibilities.)

    TITAN
Over a Torrent Sea (This was a real visual feast!)

    DS9
    Unity (Great payoff!)
Hollow Men (Best DS9 and Romulan story ever!)
The Never Ending Sacrifice (Loved the Cardie perspective - very unique)
Typhon Pact III: Rough Beasts of Empire (serious reservations about Sisko in present timeframe, but loved the Romulan plotline and the Tzenkethi war flashbacks)

    VOYAGER
Places of Exile (from Myriad Universes - what Voyager could have been!)
    Full Circle -
    Unworthy -
Children of the Storm - (Pure amazingness in these last three... I can't believe I like Voyager now!)

    ENTEPRISE
The Good that Men Do (Redeeming)
Romulan War I: Beneath the Raptor's Wing (Intriguing)

    NEW FRONTIER
Nothing. I can't stand the series.

    KLINGON EMPIRE
A Burning House (Knocked my socks off, and I am not a huge Klingon fan)

    LOST ERA
The Sundered (Love Sulu and the Excelsior!)
Serpents among the Ruins (Who would have thunk it about ole Johnnie H?)
The Art of the Impossible (A fascinating look at what was, for me, one of the big mysteries of the DS9 ru)

    VANGUARD
All except the first story in Declassified (my thoughts on that should be up this week in my TrekMovie review) and Distant Early Warning (only because I have never read it.)

    I think that covers it...

    Serpents Among the Ruins
    The Art of the Impossible
    The Buried Age
    Articles of the Federation
Day of the Vipers (the first Terok Nor novel is amazing, the second two were OK, but not even close to this one)
    Destiny trilogy
    Series:
    DS9 Relaunch
Voyager Relaunch volume 2 (Kirsten Beyer's novels)
    Titan
    Vanguard
    Mirror Universe
    Myriad Universes

For me personally there is a wide range, liked a few of the early TNG books, thought Q in Law was great fun. Star Trek Destiny was very good, and some of the relaunch for all of the series have been pretty good.

By far and away my favourite trek novel is "The Final Reflection".

    Other favourites:

    Federation
    Q-Squared
    Imzadi
    Intellivore
    Dark Mirror
    Spock's World
    The Wounded Sky
    Doctor's Orders
    Where Sea Meets Sky
    Once Burned

I'll go with "Errand of Vengeance" trilogy wise.

    Other favourites:

    Errand of Fury
    DS9 : Millennium
    The Q Continuum

I liked FatherRob's post, so I'll do one like that.

    ENT:
Nada. The relaunch had promise, but Romulan War was seriously bleh.

    TOS:
Ex Machina (you may notice a lot of Christopher on this list...)
Federation (perhaps the best of the zero-continuity TrekLit era)
The Pandora Principle (great backstory for Saavik)
I haven't read Crucible yet, so so far, that's it; not a huge TOS fan

    VGD:
All of it, but especially Reap The Whirlwind.

    Lost Era:
Serpents Among The Ruins (one of my favorite endings of a novel ever)
The Art Of The Impossible (amazing worldbuilding)
The Buried Age (the book that got me back into TrekLit)

    TNG pre-Nemesis:
    Vendetta
    Imzadi
Q-Squared (all of PAD's early work was great, but these were the best)

    TNG Relaunch / Wider Federation:
Articles Of The Federation (KRAD at his best)
***DESTINY*** (too awesome to even explain)
Losing The Peace (made me like Crusher, amazingly enough)

    DS9:
The Siege (amazingly good for an early novel)
The Lives Of Dax (greater than the sum of its parts)
A Stitch In Time (an incredible character study)
Plus, really, the whole relaunch, but especially:
    Avatar (still stunningly well done)
Twilight (DRG3's best that I've read so far; powerful themes)
The Never-Ending Sacrifice (amazing this was ever published, but I'm happy it was)

    VOY:
Captain's Table: Fire Ship (best character study on Janeway I've seen)
Myriad Universes: Places Of Exile (what Voyager should've been)
And of course all of Beyer's relaunch-2

    NF:
Captain's Table: Once Burned (beautiful little tragedy)
Stone & Anvil (every great aspect of this series at its best)

    SCE:
Wildfire (didn't like much of the rest, but this story is insanely powerful; a masterpiece)

    Titan:
Orion's Hounds (finally got the series on the right track after the weirdly unfocused first two)
Sword of Damocles (one of the most unique writers in TrekLit's history, worth it just for that)
Over A Torrent Sea (so many great ideas)

    MU:
The Sorrows Of Empire, expanded (so epic. sooooo epic.)
