Hmm. I'll go with Things Past, as it's not quite as good as The Ship, and I can't decide between the two. :p

    The Ship
...Nor the Battle to the Strong
    Trials and Tribble-ations
    The Darkness and the Light
    For the Uniform
    In Purgatory's Shadow
    By Inferno's Light
    Call to Arms

The Darkness and the Light - because Star Trek has been really inconsistent when it comes to disfigurement. They're have the ability to reconstruct damaged faces (Beverly's burned face in Genesis, Kira's mom's scar) and can easily change a face from one race to another. But when the plot requires it, a Cardassian's melted face (or the Bajoran guy in the episode Ensign Ro) is irreparable. Eh.

    The Ship
...Nor the Battle to the Strong
    Trials and Tribble-ations
    For the Uniform
    In Purgatory's Shadow
    By Inferno's Light
    Call to Arms

It's strength has finally failed "Nor the Battle to the Strong". It's getting really tough to decide now.

    The Ship
    Trials and Tribble-ations
    For the Uniform
    In Purgatory's Shadow
    By Inferno's Light
    Call to Arms

Gotta go with the Ship. While it's definitely got it's moments and is action filled, the story when you get right down to it is nothing special. Sisko get's a future plot device.

    Trials and Tribble-ations
    For the Uniform
    In Purgatory's Shadow

EDIT: Someone beat me to The Ship. I'll go for For the Uniform then. It's a good episode, but the remaining four are classic DS9 I'd say.

    Trials and Tribble-ations
    In Purgatory's Shadow
    By Inferno's Light
    Call to Arms

"Call to Arms", It's a great episode, great battle, great ending hook with the massive fleet, but the other episodes are simply better.

    Trials and Tribble-ations
    In Purgatory's Shadow
    By Inferno's Light

Gotta do it... Trials and Tribbleations. It's silly fun and nostalgia, but it doesn't hold up to the hard drama of the two parter that's left.

Edit: I initiated knocked out In Purgatory's Shadow, but I changed my mind. Purgatory was a great set-up, and Inferno was a rushed payoff.

The winner is In Purgatory's Shadow.

I'll delete By Inferno's Light. An excellent follow-up, if a little rushed at the end.

    In Purgatory's Shadow

EDIT: Damn, missed out by seconds. By Inferno's Light a worthy winner anyway, it's all the same story. I would have gone for Trials or Call to Arms myself.

I would have been happy with any of the last 4 winning. Now where did I put the Orb of Time to go back and ensure "Trails...." wins. :p

By Inferno's Light wins by a nose! :)

This is much harder than TNG and TOS. It'll get easy again with VOY though ;)

Actually, I had a last-second change of heart. I went with In Purgatory's Shadow instead.

I think you two purposefully conspired to make that as confusing as possible. ;)

Who cares, it's the same episode and they came in first/second.

It's awesome that every appearance by Tain is in the finals.
