I much prefer to do stuff in-camera, because then you HAVE it. The actors know what they're looking at and how to react to it. I liked the Polaris
Command Deck set a lot because it was mostly practical, with live animated displays on the consoles and what have you. Interactive lighting, the whole nine yards. The bulk of the post work is for the planet and exterior space scenes, which I am less fond of from a filmmaker's standpoint.
