Windows 7 will be supported for 6 more years
. It's a pretty good bet you'll get a new computer by then, so I wouldn't worry about that. Sure, mainstream support is ending next year, but extended support continues until 2020. The difference is that in extended support, Microsoft will no longer take feature requests, warranty claims, and no longer offers no-charge incident support. You can still pay for support and there will still be security updates. And besides, I wouldn't be surprised if they moved the end-of-support date back a couple of times as they did with XP because of the broad user base.
