I still think it'll basically boil down to a load of origin stories without the costumes. Like Smallville..
But with the interesting twist that the main viewpoint will be that of a supporting character, Gordon, rather than the future superhero himself. And without the crutch of "meteor freaks" to fall back on.
Anyway, TV is a "What have you done for me lately?" business. If the makers of Gotham
intend to copy any other DC series, it won't be Smallville
, which ended three years ago, but Arrow
is a show that features comics characters quite heavily, often enormously reinterpreted, but fit into the show's world so effectively that viewers are generally fine with it.
