Or even bagpipe music? Just think, I could skip ahead to the future and find music I really like!
Well, we know that bagpipe renditions of "Amazing Grace" are sometimes part of Starfleet funerals . . . .
Why did they play an earth funeral song, on bagpipes, at Spock's funeral? Was it what Spock would have wanted?
We don't actually know what Vulcan funerals are like. And I'm pretty sure Scotty didn't know how to play the Vulcan lyre.
Many years ago, I attended the symphony and one of the pieces played was Amazing Grace. It was played by a lone piper, illuminated by a single spotlight. It was a beautiful experience and by the end of the piece, most of the audience members were openly crying.
That song is one of the most powerful pieces of music ever written, and can have a profound effect on people, even if they're not religious or know all the words.
