LOL different fashions apparently Over here, all gothic churches (built between 1300 and 1500 approximately; the French have earlier ones as they invented that style) have these long filigrane towers. And even the romanesque ones (built between 800 and 1300) have towers about 1.5-1.7 times the height of the main nave.
Westminster Abbey looks a bit like a crossbreed between yours and ours. Propably French influence.
Ours are more ornate on the outside, but much less so on the inside. There the British ones beat us . Here a German example:
Wikipedia has a few interesting photos of Gothic churches all over Europe. The differences in style and proportion are amazing.
