92. Psycho (A+)
As with Vertigo there's a questionable structural choice here (the long scene with the psychiatrist, which everybody and their dog has already critiqued; I'll just say that if Hitchcock wanted a more detailed explanation of Norman's situation, it would have been more naturalistic to see Mrs. Bates talking to the psychiatrist, rather than having him do the Cliff Notes). Otherwise, this film holds up exceptionally well, which is especially impressive given that it's a slasher movie made under Hays Code restrictions, and whose big twists are public knowledge.
