While it is true about film (actually moreso TV since film actually is large and wide and they have more room) and the need for setting up actors closer together, I think in some of those pics they really didn't quite need them standing so close together. The wider shots had plenty of room for them to spread out.
Though I suppose they'd want the wider shots to match the closer up shots so they'd have to set them up in the same positions... However, I think at least a couple of those shots were intentional... especially the one at the desk from "Oasis".
There are also lots of instances of them just stepping in and getting into each other's personal space... and often to get more face to face too. The first few that come to mind are "Broken Bow", "Breaking the Ice" and "Horizon".
