Wasn't there some controversy over the visual effects company who did this movie? I remember something about the visual effects people being pulled off the stage at the Oscars but I wasn't sure if it was for this movie or another one.
Life Of Pi? Rhythm & Hues put so much into that they ended up going bankrupt when it was released. At the Oscars - which they won for best visual effects - their boss's microphone was cut off and the band started playing over him when he tried to bring up the company's fate during his acceptance speech.
Director Ang Lee leapt straight to their defence by complaining that the effects cost too much, and thanking everybody except* the visual effects crew at his acceptance speech... Oh, wait.
