56. Before Midnight (A+)
I've seen some entertaining movies this year, but in truth, 2013 pales in comparison to 2012 so far. Before Midnight
is the first great film of the year. Richard Linklater, Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke return to the characters they know so intimately, and deliver what feels like the perfectly logical followup to the relationship we saw in the previous two movies. They vary things up a bit here: the film doesn't have a ticking clock, and features a reasonable amount of Jesse and Celine interacting with other characters, which never happened in the first two.
