gets my top vote. That book did everything that the TNG episode Emergence
(my least favorite hour of Trek) did not. I also loved the exploration of a non-humanoid AI culture. We've gotten a bit more of that recently with Cold Equations
(which was also great).
Over a Torrent Sea
would have won out, but the Dr. Ree/Troi B-plot just did not work for me. I also really enjoyed Sword of Damocles
. Based on the results here I am thinking that I may need to read Orion's Hounds
again. I remember it as a solid book and I recall the high points of the plot, but it did not really leave a strong impression with me.
