There are far simpler cookbooks with great recipes. America's Test Kitchen has interesting stuff, though sometimes it's more labor-intensive than I'm willing to do.
I have a very simple roast chicken recipe that Hubby loves, since it makes crispy skin, his favorite part. Eat the dark meat for dinner and make chicken salad of the white meat. Oh, and it takes about 1 1/2 hours to cook it. Not bad.
