Re: Official TrekBBS Fantasy Baseball thread!

An explanation of Roto from this page- http://sports.yahoo.com/fantasy/mlb/...g=ycn-10792917

In public Yahoo! fantasy baseball leagues, the default batting categories are runs, RBI, home runs, stolen bases, and batting average. The default pitching categories are wins, saves, strikeouts, ERA, and WHIP (walks + hits, divided by innings pitched).

For example, if you're in a 12-team league, and your starting lineup has scored more runs than any other team in the league, you'd get 12 points in that category. If you ranked second in your league in stolen bases, you'd get 11 points in that category to add to your 12 points in runs. Third in ERA? 10 points. Fourth in strikeouts? 9 points. And so and and so forth. If you ranked dead last in saves, you'd only get 1 point in that category to add to your other point totals.

So in a 12-team league, if you lead all 10 scoring categories, you'd have 120 points. If you were dead last in all 10 categories, you'd have 12 points. Your point total has the potential to change on a daily basis as each day's worth of statistics are recorded. As you might expect, point totals fluctuate wildly during the first few weeks of the season, but as the season progresses, they level off considerably.
It is similar to head to head that you are competing to have the best totals in each stat category, only in this case you are going against the whole league and it is over the whole season and not just a week.
