today. ST is supposed to be about looking forward, not clinging to the past. The meaning should be more important than the trappings. So a wholesale reinvention, updating the concepts and tech while preserving the core characterizations and themes, would be more faithful to its intent than just perpetually clinging to the pulp-era technological trappings of the original.
