We're spoiled by the TV sets we have today. Not many people remember what it was like in the days when you had to wrestle your TV into submission to get a halfway decent picture out of it, and then just hope it would hold that way for the duration of the show.
(Good grief, I sound like an old fogey.)
Oy watching Emergency! with my mom was a real endurance test. She was never happy with the reds of the fire trucks and we'd spent so much time adjusting the color. By the time she was satisfied, the show was over. I was actually happy as a kid with the 12 inch Zenith black and white set.
