Obviously the new effects would be freshly made, so therefore *they* will be made in widescreen. Whenever that happens.

But that's precisely the issue. None of the original CGI models still exist for B5, so they'd all have to be done from scratch, which (at the moment) is waaaay too expensive and time-consuming for WB to consider for a property like B5.
