[/I]New Galactica on the other hand, had the characters wallowing in emotions over stuff that happened BEFORE the destruction of the colonies, and never seemed to put anything behind them. That's not "realism", as the producers would have you believe. It's overly emotional nonsense.
That's what turned me off.
Part of that is the timeline though, isn't it? The events on screen played out much slower than real life. The Mini series aired in 2003, and the Lay Down Your Burdens aired in 2006 even though it took place just 9 months after the destruction of the 12 colonies.
I know I'd be pretty messed up 9 months after a similar tragedy.
Travel's fatal to prejudice, bigotry, narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things can't be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's life.
