Look at the proportion of US involvement in WW1 and you'll see why.
WWI was a depressing, meaningless muddle. WWII was of course even more depressing, but it shaped the world we live in today, and the meaning is obvious to all. So drama based on it seems more consequential.
I don't mind if WWI is forgotten like, say, the Napoleonic Wars. I could use more Civil War stuff though.
