admirably! I rather follow the noble example set by certain water beetles (the Elmids) who spend all their lives submerged yet are unable to swim. 
Your bro might like the Highlander series. Adrian Paul apparently had good sword teachers and handles his Katana rather well (though too showy, but that's always the difference between stage fighting and the real thing).
