Those'll scratch more than glass, what I mean is that it only takes one grain of sand, one cup/mug/plate/other thing that has a bottom not totally covered in glaze to make a fine scratch in glass.

I only 'shave off the top' when I can't see the bottom of the TV on the other side of the table...
