The "transporter" (actually, time machine) in Crichton's TIMELINE has some really nasty artifacts. If McCoy hated the Starfleet transporters, there's no way he'd ride Crichton's time machine and wind up looking like the
Wayouts.
Then there's the inside-out error of the matter pods in the remake of THE FLY. (Spoofed in GALAXY QUEST.)
