They actually make the prime directive more humane since Kirk only runs into problems with it since he can't save Spock without revealing the existence of aliens to the pre-warp culture he is saving, so as long as nobody on the planet knows your saving the day the NuPrime Directive doesn't care if you save a pre-warp culture from destruction
In fact I actually like the nuPrime Directive more than the Prime Universe version.
