Photobucket beta gripe

I need some advice on something I find vexing. In general I haven't minded the new beta version of PB, but I have noticed an annoying tendency to alter file names for no apparent reason during uploads (specifically it adds a string of extra characters to the name, which causes issues if you don't notice it when you post a link or image tag). There doesn't seem to be any direct way to edit the file name on the new system, unlike the old system, and I thought I'd found a way around that problem (saving a copy with the corrected name in the editor, and then deleting the stringed original), but that turned out not to be the case.

Has anyone figured out how to make this sort of change? It should be simple, but I haven't been able to find the right option. The PB FAQ doesn't help since it only lists the older version and the description of the new editor doesn't seem to have such an option.
