The trade is sounding marginally
better for the Mets, as it's now being reported that d'Arnaud will be the centerpiece of the deal, but it's still a crapshoot. If he's healthy, he's the best catching prospect in the minors and one of the best position player prospects overall. He's an excellent hitting prospect, does pretty much everything except walk (and that's more a function of killing the minors than a bad approach), and he's a legitimate good defensive catcher.
On the other hand, he missed the second half of last season with what was reported as a torn PCL in his knee, suffered in a baserunning collision. Knee injuries and catchers do not go together well, and at first or right d'Arnaud's prospect value is a shell of its former self.
