Agreed. Given the way things ended in The Eternal Tide, a small jump forward in time wouldn't be a huge deal. I wouldn't want several years to pass between novels, but a few months certainly would not disrupt the story. There aren't any dramatic cliffhangers or on-going plot threads that would be severely disrupted by a small jump forward.
