There has been some heated online discussion over the restoration of season two’s effects, though. It has been outsourced to an external company this time around, and screengrabs have shown a discernible (if not exactly catastrophic) difference from CBS Digital’s work on season one – in particular, some of the planets look noticeably less sharp. It’s not exactly worth organising a march about, though, and what we have here is still a massive improvement on the DVDs.

“Making It So: Continuing Star Trek: The Next Generation” is the big season two Making Of doc; rather arbitrarily split into two sections, it runs for a total of 81 minutes. The list of interviewees is extremely impressive...
