Hmmmm.... I checked Memory Alpha, there's no mention of him being raised on a farm in TOS. I checked
The Making of Star Trek, it just says Kirk is from "a small town in Iowa"
But "farmboy" Kirk definitely predates STXI. Maybe it's from one of the James Blish novelizations or original Bantam novels in the 70's?
