This was a terrific, if depressing tale.
Two people caught in the ultimate no-win scenario, doomed to live out their remaining days in the hulk of a dead starship within the void of a dead universe.
I love that this story didn’t end on a happy note with a miraculously improbable rescue, or a return to the survivors' proper time. Sometimes, bad things happen to good people, and no matter how smart, resourceful, or lucky they are, there’s just no way out.
One wonders how many starships have suffered a fate similar to
Majestic,
Voyager or
Equinox, flung to the far reaches of time and space, never to return or be heard from again?
