Famously, the story goes that, as a kid, JJ attended the gala premiere of ST:TMP at the Smithsonian with his Dad in 1979. Hard on the heels of the "Star Wars" phenomenon, JJ had complained that TMP was too slow, so it's no surprise he upped the pace of things when directing "Star Trek (2009)". |
