There were trees, sure. I guess it would just strike me as odd to see bunny rabbits and deer in purgatory, and berries/nuts might not be the best diet for a hunter.
It's also possible that you don't need to actually eat anything in purgatory. Though, that would probably run counter to the whole feeling truly alive business.
