Two weeks ago I attended a special screening of the original Total Recall
at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood. Paul Verhoven and the two screenwriters were there as well for a Q&A afterward. The print was in 70mm and had been screened maybe once or twice. It was pristine
. Marvelous time all around. The best quote of the night was when someone asked if anyone from the remake had consulted Verhoven on it, to which his reply was "They did not ask me anything, so I have no problem saying that I think our movie is good... and theirs is not."
This morning we watched Sin City
, which wound up being rather ironic given the news of Michael Clarke Duncan's passing today; after dinner I watched the Spike Lee joint Inside Man
, which is still awesome six years later.
