124. Kick-Ass (C-)
: I'm not familiar with the source material, although I imagine it suffers from many of the same problems of the film adaptation. The main one being that the film begins by telling the audience that it's going to be a story about what superheroes would be like in the real world, but after briefly entertaining that notion (a guy in the beginning is completely insane, Kick-Ass himself gets beaten up and stabbed) it devolves into a rather childish fantasy. And that fantasy, though well-directed and acted, is far less interesting than the idea the film sets out to explore.
