Well, Burton did produce Batman Forever, at least, so it's kind of a transitional piece.
Burton was kept on the project as a producer by the studio in order to appease fans, but he had little -- if any -- actual input into Batman Forever
. I agree that, tonally, it seems to mark a half-way point between Burton's Batman
and Schumacher's Batman & Robin
, but that probably has to do with Warner Bros. more than anything. After all, when Burton got a free hand to make his second Batman film, he also indulged in quite a bit of personal excess.
