I don't think that the 4 year wait will hurt it much. I live in "No Fun City" and since the 2009 movie was released we have seen 2 Star Trek conventions and our first Fan Expo (with 3 TNG actors who were well received). This is no longer a "dead" franchise. It is no longer viewed as a memory from the past, people who talk about use the present tense again.
indicated, those who liked the movie the first time will remember they had fun, and those who didn't see the '09 film may be curious enough to venture to the cinema to see what the fuss is about.
I'm really looking forward to it!
