I always try to work in PNG whenever I can because of the resolution.

BTW, a tip for everyone...if you MUST downconvert (say to JPG) on an image, don't use ordinary Paint. Loses a ton of resolution that way.

Paint.Net will downconvert to JPG or GIF with decent resolution if you are starting from a PNG or Bitmap source.
