Dichen Lachman: Babe of the week #14 (Apr. 2012)

Dichen Lachman
("Being Human," "Dollhouse," "Neighbours")
Thumbs up= Thumbs down= Thumbs sideways=

Born in Kathmandu, Nepal, Dichen Lachman was the daughter of a Tibetan mother and Australian father. Her father intended to name her "Dechen," translated into Tibetan as "big and prosperous," but misspelled it and instead gave her a name that translated to "big sin." Lachman left the University of Adelaide after one year and moved to Sydney, where she studied drama at the Australian branch of the New York-based Lynette Sheldon Actors Studio. Her first break was a small part in the Australian-shot teen fantasy film Aquamarine. In 2005, she auditioned for a role on the Aussie soap institution "Neighbours," and although producers did not think she was right to play a spoiled waspy bad-girl, she dazzled them so much that they created a whole new character for her.
Being Human, a reimagining of the acclaimed UK series created by Toby Whithouse, follows three paranormal, 20-something roommates living in Boston -- vampire Aidan (Sam Witwer), werewolf Josh (Sam Huntington) and ghost Sally (Meaghan Rath) -- as they struggle to hide their dark secrets from the world, while helping each other navigate the complexities of living double lives and trying to be human.
