I scored with used books over the weekend - particularly...
I bought a pristine hardback of the third Harry Potter novel for $.50
I found all but one of the 6 books in The Secret of the Unicorn Queen
series. I read it in junior high and have been looking for the books for years as an adult. They had such short print runs that they're very hard to find, and used copies can command pretty hefty prices. I have them all now, with a couple spares because I couldn't NOT buy the ones I already had, since they're so rare. My only goal now is to replace my copies of 2 (missing the first few pages) and 3 (stamped all over the inside covers by a child too eager to mark her territory). But I have them ALL now.
OH, and as the store was having a buy 2 get 1 free sale, I got them all for FREE.
I LOVE trawling used bookstores. Just when you give up hope of ever finding that obscure book, wham, there it is smiling at you.
