And not the reason why it happened since the original idea was to get rid of Kim and keep Kes alongside the bombshell
. They only kept Kim because Garrett Wang got noticed by People Magazine
and felt that any
press would be good for the show.
But they weren't going to have ten regular cast members for budgetary reasons no matter what.
