I felt that too, except since this is going to be intentionally tongue in cheek I think it has that going for it. I've never read the book though. I'm tired of all the super effects in action movies, and wish that it could be played more straight forward. It would be funnier to me if it didn't rely on "OMG what if Lincoln fought vampires with Matrix jumps!" humor.
Yeah, I felt a lot of Matrix-style crap in it that didn't impress me. I'll keep watch on it but this trailer didn't impress me.

I have pressed that people should read the book before they decide to go see the film. The film's script is written by the author. It might help you make that final decision to see it.
I shouldn't have to read the source material to something in order to enjoy or "get" the movie.
For me, and for many of us, the future is now in the past.
