As for Hollywood being bankrupt for ideas, a lot of crap coming out, doesn't wash with me. If you were to look at the releases over time you'd see there was a lot of crap that came out in the 50s, 60s and 70s. A lot, but only the good stuff survived so we think higher of that time. Right now we're seeing everything.
Agreed. 20 years from now, no one is going to remember some crappy scifi flick like Battle: Los Angeles or some disposable Adam Sandler comedy. They'll just remember the good stuff, like Bridesmaids, Drive, or The Artist.
Every year there are TONS of great movies that are released-- you just have to know where to look for them.
