Scientist are now growing organs of animals, hopefully growing human ones soon from our own cells (I'm desperately waiting for this one to happen).
I prefer Damien Broderick's description, describing the Singularity as the Spike. Plot progress versus time on a graph for any human endeavour (transport or computers come to mind).
