With the amount of technology they have taken through countless assimilation they could've quite easily designed rapid shock troops for quicker planet take overs. But the slow speed makes them more eerie and dangerous. The Borg are the nearest thing to the horror creatures in Trek, they make zombies look like kids at halloween
