I'd never even heard of this show until last week when I saw an ad for it in Entertainment Weekly's Harry Potter issue, and yesterday I happened to stumble across a gag reel on YouTube. I enjoy the two actresses so I'm going to have to check this out (I don't know if it airs anywhere in Canada, at least on any non-digital channels). Is the show based upon the novels, or are the novels based upon the show?

I know nothing about the books, but I think you could accurately retitle the show "Butch & Lipstick." Angie Harmon is TNT's idea of butch. The characters are explicitly heterosexual but the lesbian subtext is deliberate, which tells you this is not a serious drama. But it can be quite entertaining if you can invest in the friendship,
