The Last Stand
The sad fact is that the general public is burnt out on X-Men, especially with how poor the previous two films were. It's just a shame that this excellent film has to pay for the sins of its predecessors.
wasn't a poor film, it just killed off characters that were assumed by the audience to have impenetrable character shields, and was consequently demonized by a vocal minority. If a Star Trek
film were to, say, kill off Kirk, I'd imagine the same kind of thing would happen ( but I guess we'll never know ).
