Captain Pike indicated to Nero that he could contact the Romulan leadership and arrange a conference.
Again, something the prime universe Pike of the same year wouldn't have been able to do. Perhaps stemming from the earlier Narada attack, or through other differences in the alternate universe, communication between the Federation and the Romulan Empire were possible in the year 2258. Pike's statement left no doubt that he could have accomplish the communication.
