You know, there's another way of looking at the title. Consider "Rises" in the context of the word immediately preceding it. After someone is knighted, he rises from a kneeling position. "Rise, Sir Bedevere, Knight of Camelot." He knelt as an ordinary man and now rises as a knight, as one who has taken on a new honor, a new role. So if the story is about Batman being rehabilitated in the public eye and maybe taking on a new role as their protector in a more formal capacity (or something), the title The Dark Knight Rises
could be symbolically appropriate.
