Commercial films don't need
awards, the receipts alone say everything that needs to be said. Or, if you're unusually discerning, you could factor production/marketing costs in there too and use profit - perhaps even proportional
profit for the truly avant-garde
- rather than revenue as an indicator of worth. Instead of whining about awards being given to less than commercially spectacular films, real Americans should scorn such structures entirely and embrace the dollar as the only meaningful metric of worth.
