There will be 2D films produced for a long time, just as black-and-white commercial films didn't disappear overnight. That said, big-budget wide-release movies are going 3D.

I had steak and a loaded baked potato for dinner on Sunday.
As a steak I enjoyed it a lot, but as macaroni and cheese I thought it was disappointing.
