In the novel
Enterprise: The First Adventure, it's forbidden to be able to beam yourself into historical preservation areas like Yellowstone National Park or Banff National Park, because it would disturb the peace and tranquility of the place (presumably except in an emergency). For that reason, comlinks are also forbidden.
